Disney Cruise Line is Coming Back to NYC

After a four year absence, Disney Cruise Line is coming back to New York City the fall of 2027 with the Disney Wish back for a very limited run. Beginning in late September 2027, the ship will operate just seven special voyages before repositioning to San Juan. It's the first time Disney Cruise Line has sailed from New York since the Disney Dream did in 2023, and with only seven departures on the calendar, these sailings are expected to book up quickly.

My second Disney cruise was on the Disney Magic, sailing to Canada, and it might be one of the most underrated itineraries in the DCL lineup. Because most families are tied to the school calendar, a fall Canada sailing tends to skew more toward adult travelers, which makes for a noticeably more relaxed vibe onboard without losing any of the Disney magic. And for the families who do sail with little ones, the ports themselves are a win: Halifax, Saint John, and Boston are all easy to explore, so you're not stuck coordinating tours or long bus rides with tired toddlers in tow.

If a New York sailing (or any of Disney's new fall 2027 and spring 2028 itineraries) is calling your name, booking access opens on a tiered schedule tied to Castaway Club status. Pearl-level members get first access on August 31, followed by Platinum on September 1, Gold on September 2, and Silver members, DVC members, and Adventures by Disney Insiders on September 3. General booking opens to everyone on September 8. Given how limited the New York sailings are, booking as early as your tier allows is going to matter more than usual.
